Intermediary platforms take a percentage of either individual or total donations and charge fees to donors. Thus, donating directly is the best way to support independent filmmaking while avoiding inconvenient fees on both ends! Furthermore, these platforms are able to (under their complete discretion) close fundraisers if they deem it in violation of their TOS. Due to the project’s subject matter, using these platforms is not the most reliable method to receive support.
